What Is a Hunt Call?
A Hunt Call is not a shelf item or a collector piece that has never seen the woods. It is a call with a story, one that has earned its place through use in a real spring turkey hunt.
.
Each Hunt Call is built by a respected and well-renowned call maker, often a champion in the calling and/or call-making world. These calls can take many forms and styles, representing the full spectrum of quality turkey and locator calls crafted by makers whose work is trusted at the highest level. When I receive these calls, they are not set aside or preserved, they are carried into the field and used on real spring turkey hunts.

These calls are used to locate gobblers, work birds, and finish hunts under real hunting conditions. They are not handled carefully for display; they are used when it matters. Once a hunt is successful, whether I am hunting alone or with a partner, the call used during that hunt is immediately retired from further use. At that point, the call becomes a Hunt Call.

The following spring, each retired Hunt Call is auctioned. What gives it value is not just the name of the maker, but the fact that the call has proven itself in the woods. It has been used on a successful hunt, heard real gobblers respond, and helped bring a turkey into range.

Each Hunt Call also has documented history. The hunt in which the call was used is captured on video and published on the Shane Simpson Hunting YouTube channel, allowing buyers to see and hear the call in action during the hunt that earned its retirement. A Hunt Call represents authenticity, trust in craftsmanship, and respect for tradition. It connects the call maker, the hunter, and the moment in the woods. What may begin as a working call ultimately becomes something more, a proven piece of hunting history with a real story behind it.
